The process in which bulk shipments are separated into multiple outbound shipments for final delivery to a store or distribution centre is known as deconsolidation. In order to reduce brokerage and transportation costs, transborder shipments cross as a single entity. Once cleared, the shipment is broken down into multiple deliveries. When a container arrives from overseas, the shipment is de-stuffed and palletized by product, store or distribution center. The benefits of deconsolidation include reduced transportation costs, improved total cycle times, increased flexibility to retailer compliance, reduced safety stock and enhanced customer service.
Services include:
- Order verification
- Unloading, unpacking, de-stuffing
- Palletization
- Reconfiguration, postponement or pre-assembly
- Reconsolidation
- End-to-end visibility
